Glaucoma Management

Glaucoma is condition in which increased pressure in the eye damages the optic nerve over time.  The optic nerve is the structure responsible for transmitting images to the brain.  If glaucoma goes untreated for a long period of time, it can lead to permanent vision loss and even total blindness.  Most people who have early glaucoma have no symptoms, which is why it is important to see an eye doctor regularly to diagnose and treat the condition before permanent vision loss occurs.   It often is inherited, so if you are over the age of 40 and have a family history of the condition, a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years is recommended.

Our doctors at Mid Atlantic Cornea are highly trained in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma.  For more information or to schedule an appointment,  please call our office.
